Super Soap Weekends

People are often surprised to learn that many of my favorite stars aren't movie actors. Most of them are primarily on television; in fact, quite a few of my favorites are soap stars.

For thirteen years, ABC Daytime stars participated in Super Soap Weekends. These huge fan events took place twice a year and alternated between Disney Land and Disney World. I never went, but I thought about it more than once. I really wanted to see Michael Easton, Thorsten Kaye, and the other Port Charles stars who normally attended the event. Then, in 2003, my favorite soap was cancelled, and its stars were no longer invited to participate unless they had moved to other ABC soaps.

Five years later, the final Super Soap Weekend was held. There have been other large fan events, though, with many of the same stars in attendance. Of course, with the obsolescence of ABC Daytime, there won't be many more opportunities such as those.

I used to watch some of the soaps with my grandmother many years ago. She loved them! After she died, I was so sad, and I just couldn't get back into them.

It has been so many years since I've seen a soap. I never did watch any of the ABC soaps.

I watched "As The World Turns" and "Guiding Light" off and on for over 25 years. With the demise of those programs, I felt terribly dismayed, especially since I think their replacements and subsequent programming has been awful. The stars became like family after all those years.

I never did watch soaps very much - though I followed General Hospital back when Luke and Laura got married... Oh, dear. That was a long time ago, wasn't it?

I have never really watched soaps, though my parents always enjoyed Coronation Street and Emmerdale, which are two of the biggies over here.

What an original link for the letter S!

It's been a long time since I've watched a soap...I always watched them after I was recovering from surgeries...and then when I got back to 'normal' they fell by the wayside!

My sister loved them, though.

Thank you for bringing back happy memories of her!

Fun link!
